Nestled on a scenic hill in Biei, Hoshigaoka is a cozy inn with a small observatory.
Opened in 1997 as a pension, the inn was handed over to a new owner in 2025. We continue to welcome guests with heartfelt hospitality, offering unforgettable stargazing experiences.

From this elevated spot, you can watch the setting sun sink beneath the horizon and witness Venus—the evening star—appear in the twilight. Soon, countless stars fill the sky in a breathtaking display.
Our “Starry Sky Bath” (stargazing experience) includes stories from Greek mythology, views of the moon's craters through a telescope, and a chance to see the brightest constellations. Even young children (age 6 and up) can enjoy capturing the stars through the telescope lens with a smartphone.
