Official Notice – Winter Traffic and Visitor Guidelines for Biei

We sincerely thank you for your understanding and cooperation in promoting tourism in Biei – the Town of Beautiful Hills.
We also extend our gratitude for your support, which allows many visitors to enjoy our town each year.

1. Congestion Around the “Christmas Tree” in Winter

During winter, the roads around the “Christmas Tree” attract many tourist vehicles, causing significant congestion.
These roads are used not only by school buses but also serve as important residential routes for local residents.

2. Rules Regarding Parking and Stopping

To ensure traffic safety and minimize the impact on local residents, the following rules are in place:

• Do not stop or park vehicles on these roads.

• Security staff and signs are placed on-site to guide traffic.

3. For Travel Agencies and Tour Operators

We ask for your understanding of these rules and your cooperation when visiting the area.

4. Information for General Visitors

• Visitors using rental cars or trains are encouraged to take the round-trip shuttle bus to the “Christmas Tree” departing from Shiki-no-Johokan, a 2-minute walk from JR Biei Station.

• There are no public toilets available during winter around JR Bibaushi Station (unmanned) and Shinsakae-no-Oka Observatory Park. Please use the toilets at JR Biei Station or nearby public facilities.

• Do not enter private homes or farmland.

Effective Period: From Monday,November　29, 2025, until further notice

1. The road in front of the Christmas Tree is designated as a pedestrian-only viewing area.
   Please refrain from stopping or parking vehicles here.
2. For buses, passenger drop-off and pick-up are only allowed after turning at the T-junction.
   Please refrain from waiting while parked on the roadside. Alternative parking and U-turn areas are designated at “Shinei-no-Oka” and “Bibaushi Station.”

Security personnel and signs will be positioned on-site to help guide traffic. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation.
